Verdict
One tester, one afternoon, no usable account.
An account shell existed. A usable account did not. Our tester, living in the United States and physically in Texas on September 14, 2026, filled in the registration form, never received the SMS code, and was then shown an identity verification modal over a blurred lobby with 0.00 Gold Coins. This review says we could not get in, not that the product is bad.
Tested and not tested
- Inspected only Logged-out lobby
- Attempted Registration: account record created, never usable
- Attempted SMS code Never arrived.
- Not tested Identity verification No accepted document held.
- Support asked Live chat, once
- Inspected only Four operator documents
- Not tested Purchase, gameplay, redemption
What happened when we tried to sign up
Two screens, one technical record, two stops.
- Tester's account
SMS code did not arrive
Phone confirmation comes first; that part stalled.
- EV-SU-001
Account record created
A technical record, never a finished or usable account.
- EV-SU-001, EV-SU-002
Pre-play identity check stopped access
A verification modal covered the lobby. No free play, no demo, no game.
Texas is on no Stake.us exclusion list. Our tester held a foreign passport and a foreign national ID card, and no driver's license or ID card issued by a US state.
The first obstacle was the SMS code. Phone confirmation comes before document verification, and that step stalled: the code never arrived. There is no screenshot, because the evidence is the absence of a message; we record it as the tester's direct account.
The second was identity verification. The interface created a record and moved on, which is not finishing registration. A modal headed Identity verification sat over a blurred lobby: 21 or older, physical documents only, one verified account per person, and the states Stake.us cannot serve.

What support told us about documents
One agent, one conversation, a narrower document rule than the Terms.
An agent named Pavle answered within a minute:
"Before you are able to use the services that we offer, you are required to complete identity verification on the website. Documents that are acceptable for this verification are: a driver's license or a state-issued ID card."
We described the tester: living in the US, in Texas, holding only foreign documents.
"Stake.us is intended exclusively for residents of the United States, and therefore, access will not be available unless you are situated within it, and can provide an ID issued by one of its unrestricted areas."

That is one agent's answer, not a published rule, and not a citizenship requirement: Terms clause 4.1(b) accepts a driver's license or other government-issued identification document containing your residential address, which is broader.
Eligibility: two lists across three official surfaces
Three official surfaces, two sets of states.
Where the state lists disagreeDocuments, not screens
Terms clause 2.1(b), version 18 dated July 10, 2026, names 22 excluded states. The sign-up modal showed 23, adding Oklahoma; the support agent's list the same afternoon had 22 without it. Alaska appears on no list, and clause 2.1(a) limits eligibility to the continental United States and Hawaii, which leaves it unclear. The state availability page records Oklahoma as a conflict and Alaska as unclear, not as excluded.
| Source | States | Oklahoma |
|---|---|---|
| Terms clause 2.1(b), version 18, dated July 10, 2026 | 22 | Not listed |
| In-product verification modal, September 14, 2026 | 23 | Listed |
| Live support agent, September 14, 2026 | 22 | Not listed |

The 22 Terms states: Washington, New York, Nevada, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Vermont, New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Louisiana, Montana, Arizona, Tennessee, California, Illinois, Indiana and Maine. Oklahoma is disputed; Alaska is unclear. None of this says play is lawful where you are.
What verification asks for
Observed, said and published, kept apart.
Observed
A modal requiring a physical government document before any play, over a lobby with 0.00 Gold Coins. The test went no further.
EV-SU-001, September 14, 2026Support said
A driver's license or state-issued ID card from an unrestricted US state. A foreign passport and national ID would not pass.
EV-SU-002, EV-SU-003Operator policy says
Terms 4.1(b): identification and proof of address requested upon registration. Help Center: a live photo of the document, then a live selfie, through a third-party provider. Privacy policy: Stake may ask for an image; facial-recognition matching described.
Help Center article dated May 19, 2026; all three read September 14, 2026Our test saw the document gate and did not reach the selfie step, so the selfie is the operator's documented process, not an observed screen. Verification comes before any play, including free Gold Coin play, and before the postal free-entry route, which needs a code from a verified account (clause 8.3).
The privacy policy's CCPA table lists categories the company may collect across the whole relationship, among them Social Security number, precise geolocation and biometric identifiers; our test did not establish which are requested at onboarding.
Brand context: the 2023 Stake.com theft
Context, not evidence of any failure at Stake.us.
On September 6, 2023 the FBI issued a press release confirming that approximately $41 million in virtual currency had been stolen from Stake.com on or about September 4, 2023, and attributing the theft to North Korea's Lazarus Group, also known as APT38. The FBI notice and the sources we checked concern the theft of virtual currency and do not report a customer-data or identity-document compromise.
Stake.us and Stake.com are separate legal entities: Stake.us is operated by Sweepsteaks Limited, registered in Cyprus, per its own Terms; Stake.com names Medium Rare N.V. on its own site, which answered with a bot-verification screen on September 14, 2026, so that name is not verified by us. The two share a product ecosystem; no primary filing we hold confirms the ownership chain.

How we sampled and what the numbers can and cannot say
The 60 most recent reviews in Most recent order, pages 1 to 3, read September 14, 2026, consecutive, nothing skipped.
One editor coded each of the 60 reviews with up to three themes; no second coder checked the tagging. Review IDs and permalinks were not captured, so snippets carry rating and date only; no reviewer is named in full. The displayed total drifted between 18,370 and 18,329 across page loads during the same session, which is normal for a live profile; the higher figure is used.
Third-party names identify public sources; no endorsement is implied, and nothing here was verified by TrueSweeps.

What a logged-out visitor can see in full.
The logged-out lobby is open to anyone: more than sixty studios, 31 Stake Originals, live tables from ICONIC21, a Stake Engine catalog and a poker product. We saw all of it and played none of it.

Why there is no score
A limited test gets a label, not a number.
We published no number for Stake.us. The TrueSweeps system weights redemption evidence at 20% and payments and support at 10%, and this test reached neither: a score would rest on 30% of evidence we do not hold. How scores work.
Bottom line
What the test supports, what it does not, and a tested comparison.
If you hold a driver's license or ID card from a state Stake.us serves, the catalog is large and our 60-review sample was strongly positive about successful and fast redemptions. If you do not, or will not hand over a photo ID and a live selfie before opening a free game, expect what we got: a stop at the pre-play identity gate; the Help Center describes a document-and-live-selfie process. In Oklahoma, check first. For a brand tested from sign-up through play, see our Crown Coins review.
Check state availability. Purchases optional where the operator says so. Terms apply. 18+ or 21+ depending on operator and state.
Frequently asked questions
Can you play Stake.us for free without verifying your identity?
Not in our test. On September 14, 2026 a verification modal blocked the lobby right after registration, and support confirmed verification is required before using the service.
What documents does Stake.us accept?
Support told us a driver's license or state-issued ID card from an unrestricted US state. The Terms are broader, calling for a government-issued document showing your residential address; the Help Center describes a live document photo, then a live selfie.
Which states can't use Stake.us?
Terms clause 2.1(b), version 18, lists 22 states, named in the eligibility section. The sign-up modal on September 14, 2026 also listed Oklahoma, which the Terms and support did not. Clause 2.1(a) limits eligibility to the continental United States and Hawaii, leaving Alaska unclear.
Does Stake.us actually pay out?
We never reached a redemption, so we cannot say from our own testing. In the 60 most recent Trustpilot reviews read on September 14, 2026, twenty described successful, often fast payouts and two described problems: player reports we did not verify.
Why is Stake.us unscored when its Trustpilot score is 4.4?
The two measure different things. Trustpilot reflects a self-selected group of reviewers who report their experiences. This page reflects a sign-up attempt that never became a usable account, and official sources that disagreed on eligibility. Both can be true; neither is a TrueSweeps score.
Is Stake.us a scam?
We have no evidence of that and are not suggesting it. Our session stopped at the KYC check, so play, purchases and redemption went untested; the player reports here are unverified. Our finding is about access and disclosure, not honesty.
Is Stake Cash available without a purchase?
Not established here. The VIP program guide, read September 14, 2026, describes a welcome bonus that runs on a referral code entered within 24 hours of signing up and publishes no amount; this review recorded nothing on what the bonus contains. Bonus Stake Cash, where credited, must be played three times before redemption (Terms 13.1(c)).
What is the Stake.us redemption minimum?
None published. Terms clause 13.3(a), read September 14, 2026, reserves the minimum, fees and timing to Stake.
How do you reach Stake.us support?
Live chat on the site: an agent answered within a minute on September 14, 2026 and quoted the verification rule and the document list (EV-SU-002, EV-SU-003).
Sources, evidence log and disclosures
- TrueSweeps spent no money at Stake.us: the session ended before the coin shop. It was run by one TrueSweeps tester on September 14, 2026, 5:35 to 5:58 PM Central, physically in Texas. Stake.us did not compensate, approve or review this article, and no affiliate tracking links appear on this page.
- This article reports one sign-up attempt, one support conversation and the operator's published rules. It makes no claim about gameplay, return-to-player, fairness or payout reliability. Every statement about payouts is a published rule or a player report, labeled as such.
- Stake.us and the studio and game names used here are trademarks of their owners, used for identification and fair commentary. The Stake.us mark on this page is the operator's own published logo file, stored locally with its provenance (
public/brands/stake-us/PROVENANCE.json); nothing about it is redrawn, and no affiliation is implied.
Evidence log: 22 frames captured, 6 published, 16 in inventory
The session produced 22 screenshots. Six are published as EV-SU-001 to EV-SU-006. Four carry a mask: the account username in the VIP Progress row of EV-SU-001, and the support agent's avatar photographs in EV-SU-002 to EV-SU-004. Message text, the modal text, the balance and the state list are untouched. The agent's working first name is retained because it is how the agent introduces themselves to every user.
Sixteen frames stay in the inventory: logged-out home and promotion views, the footer with the operator's registration details, the two registration screens, Stake Engine and Burst Games category pages, and the remaining publisher-directory and Stake Originals pages. No claim on this page rests on an unpublished frame; every frame was read at full size and nothing was withheld because it was unfavorable to the operator or to TrueSweeps. Each published derivative's hash is listed in the reviewed redaction manifest beside this article's images.

Third-party publicationThird-party records
Stake.com's own Terms page could not be read on September 14, 2026: the site answered with a bot-verification screen, which TrueSweeps does not attempt to pass.
Re-read attempted : stake.us answered with a bot-challenge page on September 19 and 20, 2026, so the Terms could not be re-read; the September 14 reading stands and no state was changed. Every read date above is therefore the last successful reading.
Change history
- Scam FAQ answer corrected to the evidence.
- Three answers added to the FAQ from rows already on the page (the referral-code welcome bonus per the VIP guide and the Stake Cash playthrough per Terms 13.1(c); the reserved minimum per Terms 13.3(a); the support route from the September 14 chat); the FAQPage node dropped so every review follows one structured-data policy; editorial sentences shortened in the hero and in the verdict, sign-up, support, verification, context, rating and bottom-line sections to hold the length band. No fact, screenshot, source or fact-check date changed; the test stays unscored.
- Added the fact-check date to the byline and, in the official-pages drawer, the outcome of the state index's later re-read attempt, rendered from the registry record; section anchors, internal links and American spelling added. No fact, screenshot, source or fact-check date changed; the test stays unscored.
- First publication from the September 14, 2026 onboarding and KYC test. 22 frames captured and redacted, 6 published as EV-SU-001 to EV-SU-006, 16 kept in the evidence inventory. The Terms, privacy policy, Help Center and VIP guide were read the same day; the Trustpilot profile and a 60-review consecutive sample were taken the same day. No score, because the session ended at the identity gate before any purchase, play or redemption.
